Residential

The first impression says a lot about a person, Pink Elephant Painting believes that your house should express the same. A good exterior paint job transforms the appearance of your residence. A fresh coat of paint can give your house a new look and also increase its value. When maintained and kept in good shape, it shows that you care about your home.

Why Paint?

Paint applied to exterior wood must withstand extreme temperatures such as high, low and humidity.  Painting is a temporary protection to the wood, which needs to be re-applied every few years, to keep the wood from rotting. One of the main causes of wood deterioration is moisture penetration. Wood tends to absorb water so it is crucial to keep the wood protected from the elements of nature. Ultimately is, of course, to define and accent architectural features of the house to beautify the outside appearance.

They are extremely responsive, they went above and beyond what was asked, and they were able to address every little issue we'd had with the exterior of our home.

Very personable and easy to work with and i would recommend them.

Colors 101:

When planning on painting your home exterior, there are a few factors to consider. The size of your home can influence whether light or dark colors are more suitable. As a general rule, light colors will make your home seem bigger, while dark colors can make your home appear smaller. You want to bring your house to life with some color by picking a color that has an appeal day in and day out.

Let’s not forget about accent and trim colors for your home!

Trim, shutters, and doors can all be painted in harmonizing colors to enhance the beauty of your home. In addition to color, it is essential to choose the right sheen. A low luster sheen is ideal for the body of your home. Semi-gloss or high gloss is best for areas that will contrast the house body, such as trim, shutters and doors.

Choosing colors:

⦁ If you are unsure of what type of colors you want to use in your home, begin with a reference point. Choose an inspirational object like a vase, piece of artwork, and what other colors you already have in your home. Also, think about what colors you are naturally drawn to. This will guide you to where you want to begin. Don't be afraid to ⦁ be bold.

⦁ When trying out a new paint color in your house, be sure to look at the wall samples at different times of the day. They tend to change hues in different light exposure. A helpful idea is to paint a strip of the new color by the woodwork, against special fabrics, or house décor. That will make it easier for you to envision your room. After all, you want your new color to complement all of those elements.

⦁ If you are trying to match paint colors to fabrics like curtains or a large rug, get a paint color fan and match each of the colors to the item.

⦁ When shopping, it is always helpful to bring pictures of statement pieces and a list of measurements with you.

Tricks of the trade:

⦁ Light colors will help lighten up a dark or poorly lighted room, and provide a psychological lift. Light colors also make walls and ceilings appear to be further away, and can be used to make small rooms appear larger and more spacious.

⦁ Dark colors can give a room a dramatic look, and create a sense of intimacy. They can also make walls and ceilings appear closer, and can be used to make a large room appear smaller and cozy.

⦁ Bright, vibrant colors will give the room a cheerful feeling and a sense of excitement.

⦁ Reds, yellows and oranges are warm colors. When these colors are used in a room, they create the illusion of a smaller room.

⦁ Violets, blues and greens are cool colors. When these colors are used in a room, they make the walls feel distant, creating the illusion of a larger room.

⦁ Tans, greys, and off-whites tend not to attract attention, and can be used to create a restful, relaxing atmosphere. They are also easier to coordinate with other colors in the room.

⦁ For long, narrow rooms, paint the shorter walls a darker color. This will create the illusion of the walls to appear closer together, it will give the room a better dynamic.

⦁ For square rooms, paint one wall a different color, preferably the wall first seen when entering the room. This will give the room a more dramatic sophisticated look.
